The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested Afropop and Streethop artiste, Naira Marley.
The ‘Issa Goal’ singer is currently being questioned at the EFFC office in Lagos.
Although the reason behind his arrest is yet to be made public, it is most likely connected to his recent statements made on social media where he glorified Internet fraud, otherwise known as ‘Yahoo Yahoo’. In a public spat, he clowned industry colleague Simi, saying she didn’t know how much Yahoo money is influential to the music economy.
The EFCC spokesperson could not be reached early on Friday, but a top source at the agency confirmed the arrest to Nigerian paper PREMIUM TIMES.
Naira Marley recently released the visuals to viral song “Am I a Yahoo Boy” featuring Zlatan Ibile. In the otherwise groovy Zanku-inspired song, they made many references to cyber fraud.
