Three Africans win the 2018/19 English Premier League Golden Boot

The 2018/19 English Premier League ended yesterday (May 12th) with Manchester City finishing champions with 98 points and Liverpool runner-up, with just a point behind the blue side from Manchester.

Something spectacular also happened, something worthy to be tagged Black Excellence: for the first time in history, three Africans shared the league’s prestigious Golden Boot, while Manchester City’s Sergio Aguero finished with 21 strikes in fourth place after netting the important equaliser in his side’s 4-1 at Brighton & Hove Albion.

Egypt’s Mohammed Salah, who won the title with 32 strikes in 2017/18, becomes only the sixth player and the first African to defend his Premier League Golden Boot title – although this time, he has to share it with his Liverpool teammate Sadio Mané (Senegal) and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang of Arsenal (Gabon).
